99% Invisible Podcast

Hey guys! ‘Been a while!

I need to start writing again, it just feels… write?

Anyways, I wanted to kick off my coming-back-to-the-blog post with a podcast that I have stumbled upon recently that I haven’t been able to put down: 99% Invisible. It was one of the most well-made, fascinating podcasts I have ever heard, and you must check it out.

When most people think of design, they think, “Oh, so you make websites and logos and stuff, right?” While this is true, what people don’t realize is that every man-made thing was designed by somebody. The shingles on your roof, the tiles in your bathroom, the stanchion at the movie theather, the parking lot at the mall, all was carefully looked at, processed, designed and implemented by somebody. This podcast talks about those things that people don’t think about, that are 99% invisible to the average human being, but are so important to our culture.

The episodes range from 5-20 minutes long, so do yourself a favor and dedicate a small amount of time out of your day to making your life awesome.

ILoveTypography.com is hosting a world wide Instagram project that shows old shop signage and lettering from all over the world, and they want you to take part in it. Take pictures of old signs and hand lettering in the places you visit (with geotagging enabled) and tweet them with #wlt or #welovetype so that they can be mapped.

I combined 4 or 5 faces together to make this very caricaturized image. I couldn’t find hair that worked well with it, so instead I decided to make it look sort of like a mask, and added the shadow under it to give it some dimension.
